GroceryBee Terms of Sale and Limited Warranty
Effective date: 3 September 2026 Version: 1.0
The GroceryBee is made by PantryBee, LLC ("we," "us," "our") and sold through several channels. Which parts of this document apply to you depends on where you bought it.
| Bought directly from us (online or in person) | Bought from Amazon, another online retailer, or a store | |
|---|---|---|
| Part A — Terms of Sale | Applies | Does not apply. Your seller's terms govern the purchase. |
| Part B — Limited Warranty | Applies | Applies |
| Part C — Safety and Regulatory | Applies | Applies |
The Limited Warranty in Part B covers your GroceryBee no matter where you bought it, as long as you bought it from us or from an authorized seller.
Your use of the PantryBee software and services is governed separately by the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy, regardless of where the Device was purchased.
PART A — TERMS OF SALE
This part applies to purchases made directly from PantryBee, LLC — whether through grocerybee.buzz or pantrybee.buzz, or in person from us at a market, fair, or other event. If you bought your GroceryBee from Amazon, another online retailer, or a physical store, that seller's terms of sale, return policy, and refund policy govern your purchase — skip to Part B.
1. Orders
Online. Your order is an offer to buy. A contract forms when we send your order confirmation and charge your payment method. We may still cancel afterwards in the circumstances below, in which case we refund you in full.
In person. The contract forms when we complete the sale and hand you the Device. There is no shipping confirmation, and the warranty period in Part B starts on that date.
We may decline or cancel an order if the item is unavailable, if there is a pricing or description error, or if we suspect fraud. If we cancel after charging you, we refund you in full.
2. Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Stripe's handling of your payment information is governed by its own privacy policy.
Preorders are charged when you place the order, not when it ships. In exchange, we commit to a maximum lead time of four weeks: if we have not shipped your Device within four weeks of your order, you are entitled to a full refund, and we will contact you before that point to offer one.
You may cancel a preorder for a full refund any time before it ships, for any reason or none. Email contact@pantrybee.buzz. Refunds go back to the original payment method.
This is a deliberate trade. Charging at order is what lets a small company build to a known quantity, and the four-week cap and the unconditional refund are what you get for it.
3. Pricing and tax
Prices are in US dollars and exclude shipping and tax unless stated. We collect sales tax where required.
If a product is listed at an obviously incorrect price, we may cancel the order and refund you rather than honor it.
4. What is in the box
Per device:
- One GroceryBee
- Two AA batteries
- One quick start card
Multipacks contain all of the above for each device in the pack.
The batteries are included — the GroceryBee runs on two AA cells and arrives ready to set up. See § 9 for battery safety information.
5. Shipping, title, and risk of loss
We ship anywhere in the United States — all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and other US territories, and APO/FPO/DPO military addresses.
Shipping cost is shown at checkout before you pay. [CONFIRM — or state "shipping is included in the price" if you fold it in. See the carrier note.]
Delivery estimates are estimates, not guarantees. Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, US territories, and military addresses may take longer than the continental US.
Title and risk of loss pass to you on delivery to the carrier. If your shipment is lost or damaged in transit, contact us — we will work with the carrier and make it right, even though risk has technically passed.
6. Returns
You may return a GroceryBee bought from grocerybee.buzz or pantrybee.buzz within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, for any reason or none.
- The Device must be in returnable condition. Normal use is fine; we expect you to have actually tried it.
- Reset the Device before returning it — hold the settings button for 10 seconds and release. This erases your Wi-Fi credentials and stored data.
- Email contact@pantrybee.buzz to start a return.
Who pays return shipping:
| Reason for return | Return shipping |
|---|---|
| Changed your mind, no longer needed, or any other reason of your own | You pay |
| Device is defective, damaged in transit, or we sent the wrong item | We pay — we send you a prepaid label |
If a Device you returned as a change-of-mind return turns out to be defective, tell us and we will refund the return shipping you paid.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of receiving the return.
7. Cancellation
You may cancel any time before your order ships and we will refund you in full. Preorders are charged at the time of the order (§ 2), so cancelling before shipment means a refund rather than an uncharged order. Email contact@pantrybee.buzz.
If we cannot ship within four weeks of your order, or by any later date you have agreed to, we will tell you the new expected date and give you the choice to wait or to cancel for a full refund. If you do not respond, we will treat that as a cancellation and refund you rather than hold your money.
PART B — LIMITED WARRANTY
This is a Limited Warranty as that term is used in the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
This warranty applies to every GroceryBee purchased from PantryBee, LLC or an authorized seller, including Amazon, other online retailers, and physical stores. You do not need to have bought it from us directly.
1. What we warrant
PantryBee, LLC warrants that the GroceryBee will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for one year from the date of purchase.
When the period starts:
- Bought from our store: the delivery date, which we have on record.
- Bought from a retailer: the date on your receipt.
- No receipt available: we will use the manufacturing date encoded in the Device serial number plus three months, which approximates a normal retail cycle in your favor.
2. What we will do
If a covered defect appears during the warranty period, we will, at our option and at no charge to you:
- repair the Device,
- replace it with a new or refurbished unit of equal function, or
- refund your purchase price.
Repaired or replaced units are warranted for the remainder of the original period or 90 days, whichever is longer.
We pay shipping in both directions for valid warranty claims.
3. How to make a claim
Contact us directly at contact@pantrybee.buzz, regardless of where you bought the Device. Include your Device serial number and a description of the problem. We will troubleshoot with you and, if the Device needs to come back, send a prepaid label.
Proof of purchase. For direct purchases we can look your order up by email. For retail purchases, please provide a receipt, an order confirmation, or an Amazon order number. If you cannot locate proof of purchase, tell us — see the serial number provision in § 1 above.
Retailer returns come first. If you bought recently and the item is defective, your retailer's return window is usually faster than a warranty claim. Amazon and most stores will exchange a defective unit outright. Use that if it is still open, then come to us afterward.
4. What this warranty does not cover
-
Damage from accident, misuse, abuse, liquid, fire, or unusual physical stress.
-
Damage from battery leakage. Alkaline batteries can leak and damage electronics. Remove the batteries if you will not use the Device for an extended period. See § 9.
-
Cosmetic damage that does not affect function.
-
Normal wear, including wear to the button surfaces.
-
Damage caused by unauthorized repair or by parts not suitable for the Device.
-
Consumables, including the batteries — the cells supplied in the box are covered by their manufacturer, not by this warranty.
-
Devices with removed or altered serial numbers.
-
Counterfeit units, or units bought from an unauthorized seller. We maintain a record of every GroceryBee we manufacture and verify each Device against it at activation. A unit that is not in that record will not activate and is not covered by this warranty. If you are unsure whether a seller is authorized, ask us before you buy, or after — we would rather tell you than have you find out through a failed claim.
If a Device you bought from us or an authorized seller is refused at activation, that is our problem to fix, not yours. Email contact@pantrybee.buzz and we will sort it out.
Modification and third-party parts
This warranty is not voided merely because you modified your GroceryBee, installed your own firmware, repaired it yourself, or used third-party parts or services. We encourage all of those things.
What is excluded is damage or defect caused by the modification or repair. If your Device fails for a reason unrelated to what you changed, it is covered. Consistent with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, we will not deny a claim on the basis of modification or third-party parts unless the modification or part actually caused the failure.
Software support for modified firmware is not provided. If you are troubleshooting a hardware problem, we may ask you to reinstall our signed firmware to isolate the fault. We will help you do that.
5. Implied warranties and your legal rights
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
Any implied warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the term of this written warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this limitation may not apply to you.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, PantryBee, LLC is not liable for incidental or consequential damages arising from the Device, including damage to other property or loss of data.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation may not apply to you.
Nothing in this warranty limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law.
7. Where to find this warranty before you buy
The full text of this Limited Warranty is available at grocerybee.buzz/warranty, in the product listing on every site where the GroceryBee is sold, and on request from any retailer that carries it.
PART C — SAFETY AND REGULATORY
This part applies to every GroceryBee regardless of where it was purchased.
8. Intended use
The GroceryBee is an indoor consumer product for household and light commercial inventory use. It is not designed or tested for use in any application where failure could cause injury or significant loss.
9. Battery safety
The GroceryBee uses two AA batteries, supplied in the box.
- Install batteries with correct polarity.
- Do not mix old and new batteries, or different brands or chemistries (alkaline, lithium, rechargeable NiMH). Mixing is the most common cause of leakage.
- Remove the batteries if the Device will be stored or unused for an extended period.
- Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
- Do not incinerate, crush, or disassemble batteries.
- Keep batteries away from children. If a battery is swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
- Dispose of batteries according to local regulations.
Battery leakage is not covered by the Limited Warranty.
10. General safety
- For indoor use only. Do not immerse the Device or expose it to liquid.
- Operate between -20°C and 60°C.
- Do not stare directly into the scanner's aiming beam. It is a visible LED, not a laser, but as with any bright light source, do not look directly into it or point it at anyone's eyes.
- Do not disassemble the Device while batteries are installed.
Magnets. The GroceryBee contains permanently enclosed high-strength magnets that allow it to mount to a refrigerator or other steel surface. Do not disassemble the Device or attempt to remove the magnets.
Swallowed magnets are a medical emergency. If two or more magnets, or a magnet and any metal object, are swallowed, they can attract through the wall of the intestine and cause serious injury or death. Seek immediate medical attention if you suspect a magnet has been swallowed. Keep the Device and any loose magnets away from children and pets.
The magnets may also interfere with pacemakers, defibrillators, and other implanted medical devices, and can damage magnetic storage media and credit cards. Keep the Device clear of these.
11. Regulatory
FCC. GroceryBee is authorized under a Supplier's Declaration of Conformity and has no FCC ID of its own. The radio module inside it does:
Contains FCC ID: 2AC7Z-ESPC6MINI1
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20 cm (8 in) between the radiator and your body.
The full Class B interference notice and our Supplier's Declaration of Conformity are on the FCC Compliance page.
California Proposition 65: PantryBee, LLC has fewer than ten employees and is therefore exempt from the warning requirements of California Health and Safety Code § 25249.6. No Proposition 65 warning is provided.
Disposal. Do not dispose of this Device in household trash. Take it to an electronics recycling facility.
12. Right to repair and resale
You own your GroceryBee. You may repair it, modify it, install your own software on it, and sell or give it away. Our warranty terms in § 4 do not condition coverage on refraining from any of this.
If you sell or give away a GroceryBee, reset it first — hold the settings button for 10 seconds and release. The new owner can activate it with their own account without our involvement.
